FIRE DESTROYS HOMES AND LIVES IN THE PHILIPPINES

Several houses in different part of the country reported fire incident. Blazing fire engulfed those sleeping in Brgy. Biwas in Tanza, Cavite. The fire was brought under control after more than one hour, while five houses were burned and four were killed including a female senior citizen, a male, and two children aged twelve and five, one of their relative was also wounded. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
More than a hundred houses were burned in Mandurriao Iloilo City, apart from the fact that most of the houses are made of light materials, the road is also narrow. The suspected cause of the fire was the left cooking or a problem with the power line.
Classrooms were burned in a school in San Juan, Batangas. The school management thanked those who helped put out the fire, and no one was hurt.

But in Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte, a seventeen-year-old woman and her six-days-old baby died in a fire. According to BFP Dipolog, they had a hard time finding the burning house because it was far from the center of the barangay. It is said that the father of the family was fishing when the fire happened. A neglected lamp is suspected to be the cause of the fire.
In Metro Manila, there was also a fire in Las Piñas where more than two hundred houses were burned, no one was killed but three were injured. “It’s really hot, because the fire was growing fast. Just imagine that when the fire was under normal conditions, it doubled every 30 seconds, but earlier it was really hot so the fire spread quickly,” FSupt. Melchor Isidro said.
In the future, according to the BFP, as soon as the personnel training is completed, they will also launch a hotline that the public can call if they want to have their power line checked.
The DILG and BFP are also concerned about fire incidents in the mountain and forests. Apart from El Niño, it is also possible that some campers left behind their cooked. The problem is said to be the lack of more equipment to respond to such fires such as military choppers that can scoop water from the river. It will be forced this year that all 123 municipalities will have fire stations and fire trucks, Sec. Benhur Abalos of DILG stated.
