FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES SUSPENDED DUE TO EXTREME HEAT WEATHER

Catarman, Northern Samar has reached danger level of 45°C heat index, while 44°C in Aparri, Cagayan and Pili, Camarines Sur. 43°C heat index will be experienced today in Catarman Northern Samar and Aparri, Cagayan. In Quezon City, it is also expected to experience high heat index so it is advised not to stay too long under direct sunlight according to PAGASA.

Due to extreme hot weather some municipalities in the country suspended their physical classes. On Monday April 1, 2024 these are the suspended classes:

• Bacolod City – face-to face classes in preschool to senior high school, public and private (April 1-2)
• Iloilo City – face-to-face classes in preschool to senior high school, public and private (April 1-2)
• Roxas, Capiz - face-to-face classes in preschool to senior high school, public and private
• Hinoba-an Negros Occidental – face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private (April 1-2)
• Kabankalan City Negros Occidental - face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private
• E.B. Magalona Negros Occidental - face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private (April 1-2)
• Isabela Negros Occidental - face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private (April 1-2)
• Bago City Negros Occidental - face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private (April 1-2)
• Silay City Negros Occidental - face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private (April 1-2)
• Cauayan Negros Occidental - face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private (April 1-2)
• Tantangan South Cotabato – afternoon face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private (April 1-15)
• Banga South Cotabato - afternoon face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private (April 1-15)

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the heat index within the danger level can cause heat stroke or heat exhaustion and heat cramps.
