Before the month of February ends, there will be a low chance of a weather disturbance since no tropical cyclone is forming or will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Most of the country will experience generally pleasant weather this day. Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be expected in Northern Mindanao, Caraga Region, and Davao Region due to the easterlies, PAGASA weather expert Benison Estareja said.
However, according to PAGASA, the El Niño phenomenon still affects the country, and until the first quarter of 2024, many parts of the country could experience droughts because of the negative effects of below-normal rainfall conditions.
PAGASA Climatology and Agrometeorology Division officer-in-charge Ana Liza Solis reminded the residents in Metro Manila, especially those in urban areas, to prepare for the hotter days coming due to the urban heat island effect.
Also, those who need to work under the sun every day should be very careful and were advised to avoid heat-related medical conditions like heatstroke, as stated by Philippine Medical Association president Dr. Maria Minerva Calimag.
Civil Service Commission Commissioner Atty. Aileen Lizada said that the government workers may request if the heat is too much for them and they are willing to make adjustments to the situation and be considerate.
