DOLE, DEPED P8,000 CASH ASSISTANCE FAKE NEW ADVISORY

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is investigating with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) about the spreading post where the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the labor department is said to be offering scholarships.

According to the post, DOLE gives P8,000 for qualified students. But DOLE insists that the post is fake news or not true. The TUPAD program is only for those who have lost their jobs. DOLE is also looking for the NBI and PNP to find out who made the post.
“The TUPAD Program is not a cash or scholarship grant assistance for students. This is a public employment program that gives temporary jobs for disadvantaged workers 18 years or older,” DOLE said in an advisory.
"We have also given instructions to all our regional offices to contact the local PNP and local NBI offices. This is a strict reminder that DOLE services are not paid for,” DOLE Secretary Benny Laguesma stated.
According to a post on the "Philippines Scholarship" Facebook page, students may be eligible for P7,000–P8,000 in financial aid.
“The public is urged not to believe and trust the schemes promoted by unscrupulous groups or individuals online about the programs of DOLE. Anyone is always welcome to visit any of the DOLE Offices,” it added.
Even the Department of Education warns against posts online that still have the department's logo and offer fake cash assistance. According to DepEd Spokesperson Michael Poa, their department does not have such a program.
“The DepEd reminds everyone to stay vigilant against misinformation. For official announcements and information of the Department, please visit (our official social media platforms and website),” the agency said.
These postings, which state that applicants can get P8,000 in financial assistance to graduating college, senior high, junior high, and elementary school students, have the DepEd logo and a cutout of Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte.
