DOH: VAPE MORE WORSE THAN CIGARETTES
The Department of Health has asked the Philippine National Police (PNP) for help in enforcing the ban on the use of vape for minors and in public places.
According to Department of Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, they do not have the enforcement power for the strict implementation of the vape law so they need the help of the police.
It is not safe to use vape even though its smoke is fragrant and delicious. According to DOH Sec. Herbosa, its effect is worse than ordinary cigarettes because of the scented oil used in vape, like oil from cannabis flower or marijuana.

“Recreational products that are in our dangerous act goes in there. Marijuana products are prohibited as dangerous drugs and specifically the one used in vape is tetrahydrocannabinol oil,” he added.
Sec. Herbosa explained that most of those who use vape are young people, students, and minors. That’s why he asked for help from the PNP for the strict implementation of the vape law.
In the Republic Act 11900, or the vape law, only 18 years old and above can buy nicotine and non-nicotine vape products e-cigarettes, to protect the children.
Based on the report of the Lung Center of the Philippines, many minors have lung injury due to e-cigarettes from e-smoking and e-vaping.
DOH wants to close vaping stores within 100 meters from the schools, and also want the police to confiscate the vapes of students and minors.
The PNP is ready to help the DOH not only to enforced but also in the information campaign related to the bad effects of vape.
