The Office of the Ombudsman itself has ordered the dismissal of Mayor Alice Guo because of her alleged complicity in the raided POGO hub in Bamban Tarlac. In addition to that, the Comelec filed a subpoena against the mayor.
The raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in her locality showed a “willful intent on her part to violate the law or disregard established rules.”
Suspended Bamban Mayor Guo was finally dismissed from the position of Ombudsman after being found guilty of grave misconduct against him. Based on the 25-page resolution of the Ombudsman, it also removed all the retirement benefits that the mayor should get. She is also permanently disqualified from running or holding any position in the government.
“Needless to stress, when respondent Guo started to discharge her duties and responsibilities as Municipal Mayor, she remained to be the real, true and actual President of Baofu Land Development, Inc., and stands to benefit from the continued operations Hongsheng and Zun Yuan,” the Ombudsman’s resolution read.
Furthermore, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) also filed a P500,000 tax evasion complaint against the suspended Mayor. “If the income declared with the BIR does not match the value of the properties amassed during the same taxable years. Due process will be given to Guo. However, if she fails to pay her tax deficiencies, the BIR will proceed to file another criminal case for tax evasion.”
The Commission on Election on the other hand also served a subpoena against Guo in relation to the material misrepresentation complaint filed against her.
After the suspension of Mayor Guo and 12 other officials in the municipal government of Bamban Tarlac, the Comelec said that the vice mayor will replace as an effect of the rule on succession. And temporary OICs or officials in acting capacity will also be appointed so that there are people who can serve in that position.
Meanwhile, the camp of Mayor Guo said that they will be filing a motion for reconsideration on the decision of the Office of the Ombudsman on dismissing her. “Nonetheless, we are preparing for the Motion for Reconsideration as a prerequisite for filing an Appeal with rhetorical Court of Appeals.”
