CHINESE WORKERS FROM ILLEGAL POGO DEPORTED – PAOCC

The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) reported that more than 80 Chinese were found working at an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub were deported back to China.
A total of 88 Chinese nationals were from the raided POGOs in Bamban, Tarlac and Porac, Pampanga. The deportees will travel to Shanghai, where about half will remain, while the rest will be chartered to Xi’an.
“Almost half will be stay in Shanghai. They are the ones from Bamban. The other half will transfer to Xi’an, those who came from Porac Pampanga.” PAOCC spokesperson Dr. Winston Casio said.
Casio said that the government is spending P200,000 to P250,000 per month as humanitarian assistance for their witnesses and other individuals. And a total of 1,777 foreigners have been deported out of the country while 309 are waiting to be deported.
PAOCC Executive Director Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz said there are still around 200 illegal POGOs operating in the Philippines. It has been more than one month since President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared the ban on POGOs during the third State of the Nation Address.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy in Manila said “In line with the consensus to strengthen law enforcement cooperation against POGOs, law enforcement authorities of China and the Philippines repatriated nearly 100 Chinese citizens engaged in offshore gambling in the Philippines.”
“This is another successful joint operation following Philippine government’s announcement of ban on all POGOs,” it added.
