The joint maritime resource assessment has begun at Sandy Cays in Pag-asa Island, it is noticable that there are still many ships of the China Coast Guard and Maritime Militia in the area.
BRP Cabra and BRP Sindangan again sailed to Pag-asa Island for a joint maritime resource assessment in the four Sandy Cays in Pag-asa. As in previous missions, while approaching the island some Chinese ships also came out.
They did not make any dangerous maneuvers on Philippine ships. At Pag-asa Island, a group of ships of the China Coast Guard and Chinese Maritime Militia can be seen.
The Coast Guard and BFAR in collaboration with Marine Biologists from the UP Institute of Biology and Researchers from the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute led the joint maritime resource assessment.
One of the studies will be the water quality in the area and there will also be a visual census of fish and other sea creatures in the area. It was also check if there are unnatural dead corals or dead reefs in Sandy Cays. The purpose of the study is focused on Food Security throughout the West Philippine Sea.
On the other hand, it was discovered in the chamber hearing that 36 Chinese have joined the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary. Dela Rosa said it is not good to see a foreigner wearing the uniform of the Philippine Coast Guard.
The congressmen were worried about the Chinese volunteers being spied on. According to the PCG, the 36 Chinese in their Auxiliary Force have been delisted because they do not have security clearance.
