BIR: NO MORE EXTENSION OF ITR FILING
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will no longer grant an extension to the filing of the Annual Income Tax Return (AITR), so the agency urged people to file online instead of queuing up at their offices. The BIR encourages tax payers to file their income tax return online whenever possible for the taxable year 2023.

This is to avoid long queues at their offices, instead of manual filing, the form can be filled up in e-BIR forms that can be downloaded from the BIR website. There is no need to print because the confirmation that the ITR has been filed will be sent to the tax payer's email. Therefore, it is no longer required to go to BIR offices, especially authorized agent banks and authorized payment platforms for payment.
"It's better that they don't go because that means they go to authorized agent banks to pay or online and pay through our payment channels. The weather is very hot that's why we are making sure that the online facilities are working" BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. stated.
According to Lumagui, more than 90% of ITR filers use the BIR's online facilities, so the agency also ensured that it works 24/7 and will not fail due to the number of filers as the deadline approaches.
"Our Information Systems group here at the BIR will continue to focus and monitor any form of hacking," he added.
The AITR filing deadline is Monday April 15 and the BIR said that no extension will be granted. The BIR has a tax collection target of 406 billion pesos this April 2024.
