Filipino girl group BINI bagged the "Best Asia Act" award at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards, making BINI the first Filipino act to win the said recognition.

In a video posted by MTV Asia on Monday via X (formerly Twitter), the eight-member girl group thanked the award-giving body for the recognition.

"We're so thankful for winning the Best Asia Act in this year's MTV Europe Music Awards," Bini leader Jhoanna said.

"We hope we can keep sharing our music with you and that the world can discover more of Filipino music," Mikha added.

BINI released an official statement on their social media platforms, stating: “This honor means the world to us, seeing Filipino music shine on the global stage. Maraming salamat po!”

BINI won the award over South Korea's ILLIT, Indonesia's Mahalini, Malaysia's MASDO, and Japan's Sakurazaka46.

The Nation’s Girl Group was awarded alongside industry heavyweights like Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, LISA, Ariana Grande, Tyla, and more at the prestigious awards show, which was broadcast live across the globe yesterday November 10, 2024, from Manchester, the United Kingdom.

This is the first MTV Europe Music Awards since 2022 after last year's edition, to be held near Paris, was canceled because of the war between Israel and Hamas.

Bini's new milestone comes just ahead of their sold-out, three-night concert "Grand Biniverse," set to take place at the Araneta Coliseum from November 16 to 18. Just a few months back, BINI was awarded the ‘Voices of Asia’ award at Billboard Korea‘s K-Power 100 event.

Consisting of members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena, Bini has released a string of hits including the viral tracks "Pantropiko," "Salamin, Salamin," "Lagi," "Karera" and "Cherry On Top," among many others.
