ATENEO DE MANILA, TOP UNIVERSITY IN THE COUNTRY IN THE 2024 WORLD RANKINGS
For four consecutive years, the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) top the country’s ranking university at the Times Higher Education (THE) 2024 Impact Rankings led 56 Philippine universities. THE is a British-based magazine reporting on news and issues in global higher education.

“These rankings celebrate diversity, recognizing that there is not one single definition of excellence and that is the collective strength of the global higher education sector that will help to build a more sustainable, collaborative and global future,” THE stated.
ADMU marked its best scores based on the institutions’ observance of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals as a framework which aims to tackle climate change and work to preserve oceans and forests, giving “peace and prosperity for people and the planet.”
THE also examines in the Impact Rankings stewardship, “how universities steer their own ships in terms of sustainability, and outreach. The work that universities do wit their local, regional, national and international communities.”
It included SDGs 6 (clean water and sanitation), 7 (affordable and clean energy), 16 (peace, justice, and strong institutions), and 17 (partnerships for the goal).
Meanwhile, following ADMU, three Philippine universities were part in the 401 to 600 bracket: De La Salle University, Ifugao State University, and the University of the Philippines.
Other four local institutions ranked in the 601 to 800 bracket third-highest in the country includes: Batangas State University, Mariano Marcos State University, Saint Louis University, and the University of Santo Tomas.
On the other hand, the top ten universities worldwide ranking from top one to ten based on SDGs were: Western Sydney University; University of Manchester (United Kingdom); Queen’s University (Canada); Universiti Sains Malaysia; University of Tasmania (Australia); Arizona State University (USA); University of Alberta (Canada) and RMIT University (Australia); Aalborg University (Denmark), University of Victoria (Canada), Western University (Canada); University of Auckland (New Zealand); and University of Glasgow (United Kingdom).
