ARREST ORDER FOR ALICE GUO AND FIVE OTHERS ISSUED; GUO’S ACCOUNTANT ARRESTED

Suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo failed to attend the June 26 and July 10 hearings of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality into unlicensed Philippine Overseas Gaming Operators and her alleged involvement in them, the Senate has issued an arrest order for contempt.

Under rules, individuals may be arrested and detained if they were held in contempt by a legislative body like the Senate.

The order was signed by committee head Sen. Risa Hontiveros and Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero on July 11 and made public on Saturday morning, also refers to Guo as "Guo Hua Ping," the Chinese national whose fingerprints the National Bureau of Investigation states match hers.

Guo has faced Senate hearings over her suspected involvement in an illegal POGO raid in her hometown. During the investigations, her nationality and citizenship were questioned due to anomalies in her personal life.

Meanwhile, the accountant of ex-Bamban Mayor Guo, Nancy Gamo, is now in jail after being arrested by the Senate. But the mayor and six others linked to illegal POGO still cannot be traced.

According to the report, suspended Mayor Alice Guo will not be seen in her town in Tarlac for two months. They also missed to see Guo's siblings Wesley, Sheila, and Seimen. Even its alleged parents, Jian Zhong Guo and Wenyi Lin. Even the Bamban representative, Dennis Cunanan, cannot be caught.

At first, her lawyers said that she would not be able to attend the hearings in the Senate because of her mental health problem, but her legal team advised her to reveal herself.

There is no information yet on the current whereabouts of the suspended mayor and others related to the alleged illegal POGO. Even Guo's allies in Bamban are said to be unaware of her whereabouts.
