Sunday evening, a fire broke out on Barangay 234 in Tondo Manila engulfing almost 27 houses. According to the Bureau of Fire Protection Manila Station, the fire was immediately raised to the second alarm because the fire grew quickly because the houses are made of light materials.
Firefighters responded to a fire that hit a residential area along Quiricada Street corner Antonio Rivera Street in Tondo. The fire was extinguished around 1:30 in the morning. The BFP will continue to investigate the origin of the fire and the total cost of its damage.
No one was reported injured or killed in the fire, but some residents have problems with where to live. They didn't save any things either. Residents are calling for help from the government.
Meanwhile, last June 16, a fire in Tondo, Manila, caused the evacuation of about 125 individuals. The national government provided food packs and P20,000 to each of these families.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) released P2.5 million in cash assistance to families in Barangay 58, according to a statement made by House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
“Each family received P20,000 last Friday under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program,” the House leader’s statement reads.
“Furthermore, an additional allocation from the AICS program has been provided, ensuring each affected family will receive P20,000 to help them recover and rebuild,” House Deputy Secretary General Sofonias Gabonada, Jr. said.
“Our priority is to provide immediate and meaningful assistance to those affected by this unfortunate incident,” he added.
