A BRIDGE FALL DOWN IN ALBAY LEAVING 15 STUDENTS INJURED

Fifteen students were injured after the hanging bridge connecting Barangay Kawit and Imba in the town of Manito Albay break down around 6:00 this Wednesday night.
According to the residents, the steel of the bridge on the Camanitohan River was old and rusted which caused it to break, the personnel of the Bereau of Fire Portection and other barangay staff immediately responded, and brought the injured to the hospital.
A temporary bridge made of bamboo was built so that the residents could pass while the local government fixed out the rehabilitation of said bridge. Others use boats for residents to cross, and the LGU will deploy boats for residents to use.
It is reported that the victims were fortunate that the accident occurred during low tide, when the Camonitohan River’s water was only shallow, and that all of their belongings including cellphones and gadgets were soaked.
The personnels of MDRRMO, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protecttion, and the Philippine National Police conduct an investigation and inspection on the place and on the said bridge.
