94-64, GILAS PILIPINAS SWEEPS THEIR FIRST GAME IN FIBA ASIA CUP QUALIFIERS

Filipinos elated the stadium in Tsuen Wan Sports Centre in Hong Kong as the Philippine national men’s basketball team Gilas Pilipinas won their first game for the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers 2025 with 96-64 on Thursday night.
After Hong Kong took the first half of the game, the Gilas strengthened their defense with firepower for the last two periods of the game.
The new head coach, Tim Cone, expressed their appreciation that the shouts and cheers of fellow Filipinos boosted their spirits to take the momentum and nail the game. Their victory gave the Philippines a solid start for the regional qualifying round.
With 16 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, and three steals, Justine Brownlee led the Gilas Pilipinas. 15 points added by Kevin Quiambao, 11 points by Jamie Malonzo, and 9 assists with 5 points and 2 rebounds for Scottie Thompson ended the game.
Gilas will play again on Sunday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, where they will host Taiwan.
