60,000 PARTICIPANTS WALK AGAINST DRUGS

Over 60,000 individuals joined the walk against drug this morning, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the activity aim to show the community support for the holistic fight against illegal drugs.
Youths, law enforcement sector and non-government organizations on Saturday joined the interior department on its “Lakad Kontra Droga, BIDA Tayong Lahat” and showed the community combatment against illegal drugs.
Celebrating the first anniversary of the BIDA campaign started in three points, the Aliw Theater and the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay, and the SMDC Festival Grounds, the participants walked and then converge at the concert grounds.
In 2023, the DILG forged partnerships with other groups to reaffirm its dedication to combating illegal drug use. These partnerships include media giants ABS-CBN and GMA Sparkle Artist Center in addition to major sports leagues such as the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), and the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
Prominent figures also joined the campaign like former Senator Manny Pacquiao, Regional Director of the National Capital Region Police Office Jose Melencio Nartatez, Chairperson of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Romando Artes, Mayors of San Juan City and Malabon City, and Francis Zamora and Jeannie Sandoval.
Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. said that the government is trying to win the fight against illegal drugs but noted that it has to be maintain by identifying which areas need more attention.
