44 AREAS REACH DANGER LEVEL OF HEAT INDEX, 48°C IN DAGUPAN CITY
Easterlies or warm air from the Pacific Ocean exists throughout the country according to PAGASA. Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain or lightning due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms. It can also cause flashfloods and landslides.

It is expected that the heat index level will still be dangerous today in 44 places in the country. According to PAGASA's forecast, the heat index in Dagupan City Pangasinan will reach 48°C. 46°C in Apari Cagayan, 45°C is expected in Bacnotan La Union, Tuguegarao, Sinait Ilocos Sur, and Isu Echague Isabela.
44°C in Laoag City Ilocos Norte, Cubi Pt Subic Bay Olongapo City, Sangley Point Cavite, Aborlan Palawan, Virac Catanduanes, and Roxas City Capiz. In Metro Manila and other areas in the country, the heat index may reach 43°C to 42°C.
PAGASA has said that the Philippines is not yet experiencing a heat wave, so it is still possible even though the El Niño is weakening.
It is said that the rains that have been experienced in the midst of hot weather in some parts of the country in the past few days are not yet a sign of the rainy season. It rained in several places in Cavite, Mt. Province, and Aurora; in Cotabato City there are flooded houses.
According to PAGASA, when the weather is too hot, there is more moisture and a higher chance for clouds to form. Usually in the afternoon or evening, cumulonimbus clouds form that cause thunderstorms.
It is possible that in late May or early June, the existence of the Southwest monsoon or southwest wind that brings rains will begin.
