29 DROWNING CASES ON HOLY WEEK, PNP

The number of deaths due to drowning this Holy Week has reached 29, according to Police Col. Jean Fajardo spokesperson of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the number was recorded from March 25 Holy Wednesday to March 31.
The most incidents reported in region-4A CALABARZON, which has ten confirmed deaths followed by region 1 and region 2 with six each, while five in region 5. Three are still being missing after drowning in Rosales, Pangasinan as well as in the towns of Jones and Tumauini in Isabela.
Fajardo said PNP personnel are among those who are currently joining the search and rescue operation on three reported missing.
"Let's remind them not to drink and then go swimming, then let's force the children that we should always be by their side and if they go swimming, they should always be watched by their accompanies," PCol. Jean Fajardo Spokesperson PNP.
Fajardo stated that they have already considered the deployment of police officers with extensive life-saving training in beach resorts due to the large number of drowning cases that have occurred during the extended holiday break.
According to Fajardo, the PNP is still on a high alert state as of today (Monday). To protect the public's safety during Holy Week, the PNP was put on high alert on Monday of last week.
During Holy Week break, thousands of people take advantage of the extended holiday to visit various beaches and resorts, which results in an increase in drowning cases.
