15 DEATHS WERE REPORTED IN THE MABINAY, NEGROS ORIENTAL ROAD ACCIDENT

On Wednesday afternoon, February 21, at Barangay Bulwang, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, a road accident occurred when a truck fell off a cliff about 40- to 50 -meters deep.
According to the Mabinay Negros Oriental Police, the truck was on its way to buy livestock animals in Barangay Dawis, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, when the driver loses its control of the vehicle.
When the truck fell off, 11 people died on the spot, while the others were reported injured.
The number of people killed in the accident rose to 15, while two of the passengers were still admitted to the hospital.
Where the accident happened is an accident-prone area, according to Police Major Nelson Lamoco.
Negros Oriental police spokesperson, Police Lt. Stephen Polinar, said that there were 17 people on the truck taking the national highway in Barangay Bulwang Mabinay town when the truck traversed a curved road that led to a brake malfunction, causing the truck driver, Antonio Boganotan Toreno, to lose control of the steering wheel.
