A truck loaded with sand and a L300 van with passengers collided at the C5 Eastwood intersection in Barangay Bagumbayan, Libis in Quezon City early Wednesday morning. Ten people from the L300 were reportedly suffered from minor injury and were taken to the hospital.
Motorists are to expect heavy traffic on C5 Southbound and Northbound due to a vehicular accident that occurred past 4 a.m. when a 12-wheeler truck and a L300 van collided, fell over, blocking the road. The impact of the accident caused the front of the 12-wheeler truck to crack while the L300 was crushed after being hit by the truck.
According to the initial report, the truck was coming from the C5 Southbound and was supposed to be heading to Laguna to deliver sand when it avoided a motorcycle. The intersection was a left turn and U-turn area in Eastwood, so the truck was unable to avoid crashing into the L300 van from the C5 northbound which was supposed to be heading to Marikina.
Due to the force of the impact, the front part of the truck was destroyed while the L300 was flattened after being hit by the truck.
The road emergency team of the MMDA Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office tried to remove the truck loaded with sand and L300 in the accident.
Rescuers have used forklifts, boom trucks, and tow trucks to remove the two vehicles and have also used cutters to cut the parts of the L300. While the sand that’s scattered and blocking the road were being removed manually using a shovel.
