Motorists are advised to be alert going through Sales Road in Pasay, the road there has a hole and it seems to have turned into a lake. The hole in front of Villamor Air Base Gate 3 is almost ten feet deep. Until last night, water continued to seep through the thread. Maynilad has already removed the damaged pipe that was considered the source of the leak and softened the soil.
On Sunday the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported a sinkhole was discovered in Sales Road prompting to closure of the eastbound lane to vehicles. A zipper lane has been created on Andrews Road to make driving less inconvenient for drivers and to allow for easy vehicle passing. The Pasay Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have sent staff to regulate and help drivers in the area.
Maynilad personnel declined to refer to the pothole as a "sinkhole," claiming that the latter is a natural phenomenon unrelated to any infrastructure project. From a small hole it turned to a 10 feet hole due to the softening of the soil. The water has been removed and the authorities are still working on fixing the hole.
According to the report, there’s a big blue pipe seen underneath the hole and the DPWH and Maynilad will pile the hole with mixed soil and used asphalt once they held the meeting.
