“BAGONG PILIPINAS” HYMN AND PLEDGE, REQUIRED IN FLAG CEREMONIES - PBBM

President Bongbong Marcos ordered to sing the "Bagong Pilipinas Hymn" and recite the pledge “Bagong Pilipinas Pledge” in all government offices and public schools during their flag ceremonies “to further instill the principles of the Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance and leadership.”
The memorandum was released to the media on Sunday, directing “all national government agencies and instrumentalities, including GOCCs (government-owned and -controlled corporations) and educational institutions, such as SUCs (state universities and colleges)” and encouraging local government units (LGUs) “to integrate the recital of the Bagong Pilipinas Hymn and Pledge in the conduct of the weekly flag ceremonies, subject to existing laws, rules and regulations.”
It is stated in Memorandum Circular No. 52, this is a way for Filipinos to better implement the principles promoted by the Marcos administration. The hymn is entitled "Panahon na ng Pagbabago " which is part of the “Bagong Pilipinas” branding of the administration of President Marcos.
“For this purpose, the heads of all national government agencies and instrumentalities shall ensure that the Bagong Pilipinas hymn and pledge, which are annexed to this circular, are properly disseminated within their respective institutions and offices,” the circular reads.
Based on the order issued by the Office of the President, it must be sung in the flag ceremony of all government offices and schools. Apart from that, the “Bagong Pilipinas” pledge will also be included to be recited by those attending the flag ceremony.
It was also the time of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. that have this policy where the song "Bagong Pagsilang" or the "March of the New Life" was played.
The memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, takes effect “immediately” containing a copy of the said hymn and pledge.
