“AGHON” LEAVES DISASTER TO OVER 30,000 FILIPINOS

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) the typhoon “Aghon” is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by tomorrow. As it leaves the PAR, thousands of Filipinos are left affected.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that 36,143 people in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol region, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Metro Manila were affected by the typhoon. The total number of deaths has not been verified yet but according to a report five individual were killed due to “Aghon.”
While 22,040 individuals flee their homes and staying on 161 evacuation centers. As “Aghon” made landfalls on different regions, uprooted trees, tore off roofs, toppled concrete electric posts, wiped out crops, and flooded villages were left.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that he had ordered the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Department of Health to assist the impacted citizens. The government has reportedly contributed P3.66 million in aid, according to the NDRRMC.
“We have distributed more than P1.2 million in humanitarian assistance, and had readied more than P3 billion as standby funds for prepositioned goods and stockpiles to ensure a quicker and more expansive delivery of assistance for our people affected by Typhoon Aghon,” Marcos said in a post.
“We can anticipate that our agencies will be ready to provide support to each affected community to ensure that they are safe and are in a good state,” it added.
The weather bureau state that danger level heat indexes can still be felt in some areas as part of the transition, the country is still not on rainy season. The Southwesterly Windflow will still bring rains especially on the Western Section of Mimaropa, Central and Northern Luzon, Western Visayas. On the afternoon, rainfalls will be experienced almost over the country.
