And here are the most favorite Filipino food, not just by Filipinos but also other nationalities!
Adobo - Our very own Adobo, this has been part of the country’s identity, the combination of sweet, sour, spicy, salty flavor in one food, is just so yummy. May it be chicken, pork, or other meat, it just never fails anyone who taste it. There are different ways on how to cook it, because every Filipino’s have their on ways on how to make their favorite adobo.
Sinigang - The famous soup in the Philippines, sour soup with meat either pork, fish, or chicken, different vegetables, and different ingredient to make it sour. As you explore the Philippines, you will taste different taste of it, different visual looks because nowadays people give it a little twist but still taste delicious.
Sisig - A sizzling sisig will always be the best, Filipino people really love this dish especially when it’s hot. But whether its hot or not it is still yummy. Filipinos’ use all kind of meat for one type of dish, and on sisig, we have Bangus sisig, pork sisig, chicken sisig, and other more. They love to experiment when it comes to cooking but it turns really so good.
Turon - A very well known Filipino snack made in banana, sugar and spring roll wrappers. A sweet snack best either in the morning or in the afternoon. Actually, the “saba” can be cooked in many ways, it could be Bananacue, Maruya, boiled, and sometimes it is mixed on dishes like Adobo.
Street Foods - The Philippines have several choices of street foods, may it be fried, grilled, boiled, or what it’s just so many that you would want to eat everything. The famous street food is “kwek-kwek” which is a boiled quail egg covered in orange flour batter, and dip it onto the sauce, it’s just the best.
Lumpia - A mixed ground pork/chicken/fish with vegetables and covered with spring rolls then fried, you won’t stop eating it I promise. It is juicy, meaty, and crispy at the same time, the flavor it gives is so flavorful, like super. This is also one of the dishes that have been recognized worldwide that other nationalities tried it.
Balut - This is the noise you will hear on the streets at night saying “Baluut”, it is a duck egg that is boiled or steamed and eaten with chick in it. People may find it disgusting but it is really yummy especially when paired with salt or spicy vinegar.
Lechon - A whole pig is smoked and cooked for lechon and is famous in the country, the crispy skin of the pork and the juicy and flavorful meat of it and dipped on its sauce is really mouth-watering. Making it will take hours and almost a day, but finishing the whole pork lechon will be just a few hours with a family eating or celebrating together.
